How to use this planner

Start with your monthly take-home income — the amount that actually reaches your account after deductions. Then enter your essential living costs, minimum debt repayments, and other flexible spending separately so nothing is counted twice.

The planner shows your total stated monthly spending, your surplus or shortfall, and the amount remaining after your stated outgoings. It also calculates an emergency-fund target based on the number of months of core costs you choose and compares that with what you have saved so far.

If you enter a monthly contribution, it estimates how many months it could take to reach the target. That estimate is illustrative and assumes a consistent contribution.

What this planner does not do

This planner is a simple illustration based on the numbers you enter. It is not financial advice, a comprehensive financial assessment, or a prediction of any outcome. It does not connect to your bank accounts, and it does not account for income taxes, inflation, interest, or changes in your circumstances.

Three months of core expenses is a common planning convention, not a universal rule. Your appropriate target depends on your income stability, obligations, and personal circumstances.
